Commissioner Christopher Vieson
Christopher Vieson
Chris Vieson has decades of experience in and around the federal government. He has a proven track record of providing bipartisan results at all levels of government.
Chris spent the last four years as the staff director of the House Committee on Armed Services. There, he led the efforts to enact four consecutive National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAA) into law during heightened political tensions. During his tenure at the Armed Services Committee, Chris oversaw the effort to revamp the quality-of-life standards for enlisted warfighters. This includes procuring for CVN-77, the USS George H.W. Bush Carrier, the necessary ovens to feed its sailors before leaving for deployment. All four NDAAs Chris led negotiations on included increased defense spending, strong oversight of the Executive Branch, reforms to procurements processes and the DOD in general, and balancing current requirements for future needs.
Prior to that, Chris served as the staff director on the House Homeland Security and Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) committees. At T&I, Chris led the efforts to enact the 2018 FAA reauthorization, the 2018 America’s Water Infrastructure Act (WRDA), and the FY2018 Coast Guard Reauthorization Act. These bills represent strong bipartisan and bicameral successes.
Before joining the T&I Committee, Chris was a partner at Public Strategies Washington, advising many Fortune 100 clients on their interactions with the government. While there, he secured both authorization and appropriation wins for his clients.
Chris started his career in DC as a staffer in House Republican leadership offices. In his final position, he served as the Director of Floor Operations for the Majority Leader, a role in which he was responsible for setting and enacting the legislative agenda for the House.
Chris is currently the managing partner of Zero Mile Strategies, a boutique government consulting firm that specializes in defense technology startups and bringing new technologies to the warfighter.
Chris is a graduate of Tulane University.
